Netflix Developing a My Hero Academia Live-Action Movie

Shinsuke Sato will direct and executive-produce the live action My Hero Academia Movie. This marks his English language directorial debut, after working on live action adaptations of Kingdom and Bleach films. Details about the project remain under wraps.

Created by Kōhei Horikoshi, the anime takes place in a world where most people are born with powers called quirks. The story revolves around Izuku Midoriya, aka Deku. He is a quirkless yet brave young boy who has no powers but dreams of becoming as heroic as his idol All-Might. Deku meets All Might before entering highschool, who selects him as the rightful successor to One-For All. Because of this, Deku was able to enroll at one of Japan’s most elite superhero academy called U.A. Deku attends High School where he makes lifelong friendships and bonds with other kids who have the same dream.

The series chronicles his journey to becoming the number one, while facing grave threats from the League of Villains and All Might’s nemesis All-For-One. Crunchyroll has the first six seasons of My Hero Academia. The seventh season will be released in spring 2024.
