After every iOS update, people are divided. Some users are happy with their battery life, while others describe it as abysmal.

If you’re among those who have noticed that the battery health of your device has dropped after the update, then I suggest reading This article reveals what Apple doesn’t wish you to know about the iPhone battery

If you are experiencing a better battery life, congratulations! You can stop here and move on with your life. If you’re one of those people with battery issues, here are some tips and tricks that will help you get through the day.

You can fix your battery problems with these tips

Here are a few tips I’ve learned to help you get the most out of your iOS 17 battery:

  • Turn down the screen brightness.
  • Turn off WiFi Assist. It uses cellular data to compensate for a weak or slow Wi-Fi connection. You can disable it at Settings > CellularScrolling to the bottom will turn off Wi-Fi Assist.
  • Reset network settings. This reset has improved battery life for many people. I’m not certain why, but it seems to work. Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhoneThen tap on ResetThen Reset Network Settings.
  • Use Dark Mode. It’s a big difference.

It’s possible that the problem is not an iOS issue, but rather a problem of apps that haven’t been updated. This is especially true when new versions iOS are released. It’s best to update all your apps before spending a lot of effort trying to diagnose the problem.

Scroll down to Available Updates and tap on your profile icon. (I pull this screen down to refresh it so I can see all the updates.)

What else could be the problem if none or all of the above steps worked? It could be an app that drains the battery. Fortunately, iOS provides you with the tools to track down misbehaving applications.

This information can also be used to diagnose battery drain issues. This information can be used for a variety of other things.

  • If an app is running berserk, it will show a lot more activity in the background than on the screen. (Try disabling the background activity of that app to see if it helps.)
  • You can identify charging problems. (Was your battery charging when you thought that it was?)
  • You can also identify poor battery performance. You can also spot poor battery performance by observing the rapid drop in battery charge.

Is your iPhone starting to show its age?

If your handset is older than four years, you may need to replace the battery.

Tap on Settings, head to Battery > Battery Health & Charging,Check what the Maximum CapacityBattery is listed as. A battery that is below 80% is worn out and it’s time to replace it.

Do not compete to see how hot your iPhone can be. This path can lead to damage to the hardware. A stressed, hot battery can lead to premature wear.

Also: Using an iPhone in high temperatures could cause permanent damage. Here’s what you shouldn’t do

If your phone overheats, remove it from the hot window. Also, don’t place it in an extremely hot car. I would also recommend temporarily removing the phone from any case.

Apple can sometimes release an update that fixes bugs.

Apple is much better about fixing issues. However, you will have to wait until the fix is released and then gamble that it will correct the problem.
